AI + DIY Saves Time and Money and Results in Making More A.T. Devices and Modifications in Minutes
June 5th, 2026, 12 p.m. - 1 p.m.
AI is influencing everything we do and is providing instant access to information, materials, tools, resources, and skills needed to create assistive technology solutions for the ever-growing immediate needs of individuals with disabilities. The average person with a disability utilizes over 13 different assistive technologies solutions to maximize their independence at home, in the community, and the workplace. Our ability to respond to these “just in time” needs require rapid prototyping, testing, and deploying of DIY solutions that can be quickly customize and adapted to the individual. We will explore these AI influences, the history of DIY AT making on the farm and how new materials and resources are changing the way we make Assistive Technology devices using the new DIY principles.
Overview of Basic Fabrication Tools and Materials for Making A.T. Solutions In Minutes
July 23rd, 2026, 12 p.m. - 1 p.m.
This webinar will discuss and demonstrate how to make your “Go Bag or crate that you can quickly grab and throw in the car or leave in the car.” These tools and materials have been selected because they match the… “….ABLE principles” for rapid fabrication and modifications of solutions.
101 Solutions Made with Recycled Corrugated Plastic
August 27th, 2026, 12 p.m. - 1 p.m.
While corrugated plastic was discovered in 2005 as a potential raw material for making an assortment of AT devices, it wasn’t until after the 2012 election that the true explosion of assistive technology devices using corrugated plastic appeared. Thousands of devices were quickly being fabricated using this new raw material as a substitute for plywood, particle board, and cardboard. In addition, tens of thousands of sheets of corrugated plastic were donated for free using recycled election signs and other signs made from corrugated plastic. Combining corrugated plastic with 10 different robust specialty tapes, enabled the development, and testing of new A.T. solutions. This webinar will discuss and demonstrate over 101 of these A.T. solutions as well as tools, tips and tricks when working with this material.
